Social media can be very stressful when you wear many hats in your company. For the first six years of my small business, I wasted so much time trying to live up to some bar without understanding what I needed to succeed on these platforms. There are three things needed to organize social media content and keep you trending along with all the influencers. Stay consistent and sane using these three tools.

3 Things to Organize Social Media Content

I use these three tools to keep my company running smoothly to have the margin to do other things in my business.

1. Have a Calendar

There is power in seeing things on paper. If you don’t like paper, there are so many great options to digitally see things in a monthly or weekly view. I am a paper kinda girl. I write all my ideas down on a calendar so that I can see what I am working on and what I would need to accomplish. Here a few steps to help organize your content on the calendar.

Step One: Ask some key questions: Are there any events your audience should know about? Have you been working on any products that are ready to launch and need to be announced? Is there anyone you need to introduce?

Step Two: Decide if you want to focus on one theme, subject or area of your business for the month or change that every week. Remember, just because you posted about something once, it doesn’t mean all of your audience has seen it. Use different keywords in your content to see which posts would perform best.

Step Three: Start filling your calendar as a rough draft. Understand what will be a post, reel or carousel. In each date, write a few words about what your post will be about.

This can take 15-30 minutes to complete. It is a simple step, but starting with this will help get all your ideas out of your brain and on paper.

Are you a paper kind of person like me and need a physical calendar in front of you to plan? I got you covered!

Once you complete your monthly view calendar, you can start working on your weekly view and details for each post. Write a few sentences about what kind of images or videos are needed for that day.  Include keywords to use for that post as well.

Want the full package? Get my Social Media Content Organizer with a monthly and weekly view, helpful tips page, and a content batching schedule. This is what I personally use to keep my social media content organized.

If you are not a paper kind of paper, I recommend using Outlook, Trello, Google or any other calendars that you like to use for business. Create a separate category for social media and start writing your ideas.

2. Use a Management Tool

My social media calendar on paper is my primary guide. I use that to schedule content in the social media management tool. This is a lifesaver for me. I don’t like having social media apps on my phone even though I have active accounts on those platforms. But, I would like to be able to still post on these platforms with ease and that’s what these tools do for me. Here are some recommended management tools:

3. Take Advantage of Design Tools

I used to wonder how people created such beautiful artsy posts. The extent of my creativity would be a simple picture I took from my iPhone with minor edits and that’s all I knew until I learned of this easy-to-use tool called Canva. It changed my world! Now, I create so many designs on this website by only using the free version. I recommend this to all my small business friends.

In Canva I create announcements, videos for ads, collages, and more. Canva offers many different templates to use at your convenience for free. Make an account and check out the website for free. It will take less than five minutes to begin understanding how to use the tools and start creating beautiful posts.
